These panels have been made using 108 different and absolutely natural woods (not coloured artificially, stained, burnt, sanded, poke-worked or bleached). Edoardo prefers the classic woods used by cabinet craftsmen like ebony, rosewood, bois de violet, bois de rose, boxwood. He also works with wood derived from certain Italian plants.

Antique wood from old furniture and beams are also used. All the wood is variable and slightly less than 2-3 mm.) then glued onto best quality plywood, previously treated against woodworm and mildew.

Only hot glue is used, animal (the same used by ancient cabinet makers); for the filling, though minimum, wax is used following the ancient tradition: melted virgin bees wax together with natural pigments and umber as in encaustic works. The polishing is wax polishing using a formula used since the seventeenth century, a mixture of virgin bees wax, carnauba (vegetable) colophony of Greece and oil of turpentine.

These works need almost no looking after: just a light waxing every two or three years or when the wood begins to show signs of dryness.
If you have difficulty in finding a similar product the author would be able to provide the wax which he has prepared personally. As a purely precautionary step it is better not to place the panels near a source of heat or on walls which are particularly damp, though the materials and glues used are very resistant and these works are destined to remain unaltered for many years.
